What is matrescence coaching?

So, what actually is matrescence coaching all about?

Here are a few myth busters to shed a little more light on what it is, and what it isn't…

It’s only for new mamas

Matrescence can feel intense at different stages of the journey and it never really ends.

For some, it starts during pregnancy, others (like I did) experience it most intensely within the first couple of years of motherhood, and some mamas don’t feel the shockwaves until much, much later.

So whether it's been six months or six years, it can help you get clarity and the support you need to change your experience.

It’s only for first-time mamas

Just as each pregnancy, birth and baby is different, so is your experience of matrescence. In fact, sometimes it can be even harder to reach out for support when the world expects you to “have it nailed by now”.

But whether this is your first child or your sixth, becoming a mama is a complex physical, emotional and psychological transition that you’re allowed to soften into, with compassion and support.

It’s all about goals, goals, goals

Traditional masculine energy coaching is very goal-orientated: get clear on what you want, make a plan, move towards it. But matrescence coaching leans into feminine energy, it’s an empowering, yet highly supportive approach.

We take a holistic understanding of what you go through when you become a mama and as you make sense of this new identity. It’s about honouring what’s happened and giving you the space and support to move forward with clarity and confidence.

It’s about getting back to “normal”

The purpose of matrescence coaching is absolutely NOT to get back to who you were before. It’s about understanding and accepting the changes, letting go of the stories that are keeping you stuck, and giving you a platform to speak your truth.

It’s about asking for what you need, letting go of the things that aren’t working for you, and growing forward into your new identity, stage of motherhood and if relevant, how this blends sustainably with your career.

It’s going to take up too much time and energy

I get it, never has time felt so precious with so many plates to keep spinning. Believing that they don’t have (or deserve) the resources - time, energy, money, headspace - is what keeps many mamas stuck.

You 100% deserve this.

It's not about overextending yourself; it's about carving out some well-deserved space to think, invest in yourself and create a more fulfilling experience of your motherhood.

There are no set rules on how we do this, each relationship is tailored to meet you where you’re at. You set the pace.
